KLOOF STREET
CHENIN BLANC

Grapes for our Kloof Street Chenin Blanc come from vineyard parcels on a variety of soils in different parts of the Swartland. The wine is part tank and part barrel fermented. Pale straw in colour, this wine has a nose of sun ripened pears and wet granite. The palate has a vibrant acidity balanced by a soft, round texture and some pithy character. The wine has a fresh, mineral finish. Best enjoyed young and served at 10 to 12 ˚C.

KLOOF STREET

SWARTLAND ROUGE

The Swartland Rouge is a Mediterranean style red blend based on Syrah with other Rhône varieties. The grapes are sourced from vineyards on the different soils in various parts of the Swartland. This seductive blend of Southern Rhône varieties has a perfumed nose of violets, spice and purple fruit. The medium to full bodied, food-friendly palate is finely textured with firm but approachable tannins and a fresh, lingering finish. Best served at 16 to 18 °C

MULLINEUX

OLD VINES WHITE

The Swartland is blessed with an abundance of old vine Chenin and we use this as the backbone of our white blend. We then add several small parcels of Mediterranean varieties for complexity, balance and aromatic lift. The grapes come from vineyard parcels in different parts of the Swartland:  the stony Shale and Schist based soils of the Kasteelberg,  the decomposed Granite of the Paardeberg and the rolling, iron-rich hills west of Malmesbury.

Fermentation is in barrel with indigenous yeasts and the wine is aged for 11 months in French oak barrels, 20% new.

MULLINEUX

STRAW WINE

The secret to our Straw Wine is harvesting Chenin grapes at normal ripeness levels to capture a healthy acidity.  The grapes are dried outside in the shade until they are half raisined, concentrating flavours, acidity and sugar into a super intense, but balanced treat. Fermentation is in old French barrels with indigenous yeasts and can last up to a year.  The wine is bottled unfiltered and unfined.

MULLINEUX GRANITE SYRAH

The GRANITE Syrah is from a single parcel of sustainably farmed dry land bush vines, planted in the late 80’s in the deep decomposed Granitic soil of the Paardeberg.  This is the parcel of Syrah that gives the best expression of the Paardeberg’s terroir – freshness and perfume. It's currently sold out, we will update this page as the harvest and bottling reveals more.
